This meeting is a combination of a "classical" summer school and a research conference. On the one hand the meeting will include lecture mini-courses given by renowned mathematicians consisting of 2-4 lectures, providing an introduction to research topics in the way accessible for young researchers and students. On the other hand regular research talks of duration 35-40 minutes (45 minutes time slots including discussion) presenting new original results, will be given. We expect that presentations will have a colloquium flavor, that is, will be addressed not only to specialists working in the narrow field of the talk but also to participants working in different fields. A considerable number of talks will be given by young researchers.
The Summer School is devoted to the three very closely related topics of modern mathematics - Spectral Theory, Differential Equations and Probability. These topics are fields of active mathematical research with a huge number of applications in natural sciences and engineering. A number of challenging mathematical problems lie in their "intersection". For instance, the issue of Anderson localization for random Schrödinger operators, that is, the appearance of the pure point spectrum for differential operators with random coefficients, is a problem of Spectral Theory, Theory of Differential Equations and Probability Theory simultaneously.
The Summer School will be held at the Institute of Mathematics of the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. The Institute is located in Staudinger Weg 9. All lectures will be held in the room 05-514 in the fifth floor. The meeting will start at 09:30 with registration at the office of the conference secretary Frau Ulrike Jacobi, room 04-525 in the fourth floor.
Conference Dinner. The Conference Dinner is on Tuesday, 13th September, in the restaurant Augustinerkeller. The dinner will begin at 19:30. We kindly ask you to choose the main course prior to the Dinner. Please fill out this form (german, russian, ukrainian) and give it to the conference sectretary.
